Our art #Jags are really busy, winning contest and showing off their amazing art!
Ms. Prado had this to say about her student, "I’m excited to share more wonderful news about one of our outstanding art students, Pamela! Earlier this year, Pamela earned first place at the county level in the Wicomico Women’s Club 2025 Youth Art Contest for her digital art piece titled “Kurt Cobain.” This accomplishment advanced her to the Chesapeake District level, where she was awarded 2nd place.
We are proud to announce that Pamela’s artwork has now placed 3rd at the state level of the competition!
This is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of Pamela’s creativity, dedication, and artistic talent. Please join me in congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition and for representing our school so well at every level of the contest!"
Thank you Pamela for striving to reach the top with your art! We are all so proud of you in #JagNation! You are AMAZING!

#JagNation has something to BRAG about!!! Our art students, with their teacher's guidance and knowledge, have really been producing some amazing art. In the group photo (left to right) are art teacher Ms. Anna Prado, Pamela, Mikayla, Ty'nija, Annabelle, and art teacher Mr. Scott Smith; featuring some beautiful work done by the students. The group entered their art in the Wicomico Women's Club Youth Art Contest. They were judged on March 4, 2025 at the Poplar Hill Mansion in Salisbury by artist Kay Hickson.
Pamela placed in the Class 1: Middle School-Photography/Digital. She gained the 1st Prize for her entry of Digital Photography titled "Kurt Cobain". She is an 8th grader and takes photography from her teacher Ms. Prado. Pamela qualifies for her photo to travel to the next level in the Maryland State Competition in Baltimore. Wishing her so much success as her photo moves along in the competition.
Second Prize goes to Ty'nijah. She is an 11th grader, and she studies under her teacher Mr. Smith. Her painting submitted was titled "Purple Sky" and was not yet returned in time for the photo. Pictured Ty'Nijah is holding a charcoal/painting that she did, and the title is "Garden Angel". It was done as a part of the Opioid Awareness Competition.
Honorable mention goes to Lauren (not pictured) for her painting called "Sunny". Lauren is a 10th grader at our school. Her art teacher is Mr. Smith.
Class 2: High School-Photography/Digital 1st Place goes to Annabelle. Annabelle is a 12th grade student at our school and her teacher is Mr. Smith. Her photograph is titled "Wintry Twilight". Winter does make for beautiful photography, as you can see in her photograph.
Another Honorable Mention goes to Mikayla for her photograph, "Soprano Bombus". Mikayla is a 12th grader at our school and studies under her art teacher, Mr. Smith. The colors are amazing!
If you see the students, PLEASE tell them how proud you are of their work. And, cross your fingers that Pamela receives some great news on her work that was forwarded to the Maryland State Competition. What an honor!
Congrats to all of the Somerset County Public School students that placed in this competition. Our county is full of wonderful artist!
